Panama is well known as a country that whose laws provide privacy and asset protection. Panama’s offshore corporations and foundations provide vehicles for those with wealth to invest and to save out of the stoplight so to speak. What separates Panama from some of the other offshore banking options is that Panama’s banking system is stable. Panama does not readily share banking information. In fact, bank employees can be prosecuted for divulging private client information.

It only takes a few days for a foreigner to open a bank account in Panama. This can be started from your home country but is easier when in Panama. Copies of photo documents and references are required. Banking in Panama provides a level of privacy not seen in most countries.

In addition to banking laws that insure privacy Panama has two other vehicles for asset protection and privacy. These are the Panama Bearer Share Corporation and the Panama Private Interest Foundations.

For those who prefer anonymous asset protection a Panama bearer share corporation may be one of the world’s best vehicles. Such a corporation can do business, hold assets, buy and sell assets, and do all of this in privacy. Any income derived off shore from Panama is not taxed in Panama.

A Panama private interest foundation provides anonymous asset protection in that the names of the beneficiary and protector do not appear in any database or public registry. A Panama foundation can own assets anywhere in the world. A Panama foundation can own a Panama Anonymous Bearer Share Corporation. This type of off shore foundation is an excellent asset protection vehicle.

Panama Investment and Panama Banking, Corporations, and Foundations

Panama does not require you to pay taxes on income derived offshore from Panama. That does not mean that you cannot use a Panama Corporation or Foundation or both to own and control assets in Panama. Panama real estate investment, especially commercial real estate investment is likely to do well for years to come. Panama has Latin America’s highest rate for foreign investment per capita.
