Also, depending upon what activities in Panama interest you, a caution or two regarding tropical diseases may be in order.
Travel to Panama and Yellow Fever
There has been no yellow fever in Panama for thirty years. This disease was largely conquered in Panama during the building of the Panama Canal a hundred years ago. However, there have been cases recently in Brazil, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Therefore Panama, mindful of the terrible death toll during the building of the Panama Canal, is requiring vaccination for yellow fever for those who come from or go to countries with current yellow fever cases.
