1. PANAMA CANAL RAINFOREST - Travel just minutes outside of Panama City are the lush rainforests of the Panama Canal Zone, which are a must-see when traveling in Panama.  These rainforests are part of Soberania National Park and protected from development because they serve as watershed for the Panama Canal.  Few cities can match the easy travel from Panama City to its prime rainforests and amazing environmental attractions.

2. COIBA ISLAND NATIONAL MARINE PARK - Coiba Marine Park consists of one large and eight small islands off the Pacific Coast.  An unusual set of circumstances make Coiba one of the most virgin nature preserves in the Americas.  For almost a century, this island chain was the home to a notorious penal colony; so threatening was this prison that no one dared set foot on the islands to hunt or farm.  Today the prison is little used and the few prisoners that remain are under heavy guard and far away from the places tourist areas.  What's left is a fabulous, untouched nature reserve for diving, snorkeling birding, nature observation and sport fishing.  
Coiba is the location of the second largest coral reef in the Eastern Pacific and one of the best diving spots in the world; this area has some of the most outstanding diving along the Pacific Coast from Columbia to Mexico.  The abundant and unique marine life and flora are a special treat to nature lovers.  Scarlet macaws nest here and humpback whales are seen frequently.
