The Panamanian city of El Valle de Anton, which is also known as Crater Valley or simply El Valle, is hardly a secret to anyone. This Panama location has been a vacation retreat for Panamanians for many years and recently, it has become a haven for Panama tourists and for those that seek investment property as well. Located less than two hours from Panama City, El Valle offers picturesque views, stunning waterfalls, immaculate gardens, hot springs and even the famed golden frogs.

El Valle is located 2,000 feet above sea level and has a consistent, moderate temperature in the upper 60's. According to geologists, this Panama location is the crater of an extinct volcano; because of the rich, volcanic soil, literally everything grows here in abundance, making the entire valley rich with fauna and flowers. This area is a favorite of photographers with hundreds of Panama pictures of everything from flowers, to waterfalls, to birds and other wildlife appearing in magazines and on the Internet. The incredible beauty of this Panamanian city only adds to its value as investment property.

A Famous Resident

Like a living Panama picture, the incredible biological diversity of the beautiful, mountainous region of El Valle is on full display for residents and tourists alike; there are numerous species of flora characteristic of the tropical humid mountain forest, and this is the home of the areas most famous residents, the unique Golden Frogs. This species exists only here and it can be found as a featured attraction at places such as the Hotel Campestre and El Nispero. Another resident of the area that is well known is the Zamia, a living fossil of Panamanian flora.

In addition, the Panamanian city of El Valle offers several waterfalls that create beautiful pictures anytime of the year. One of the most visited is El Macho, only five minutes from the center of El Valle. The El Macho Waterfall is a spectacular 100 foot water fall along the Amarilla Creek. El Valle also has some Panama locations with hieroglyphs engraved on rocks that represent access trails, anthropomorphous images, and symbols that have yet to be deciphered by local and foreign researchers. These rocks are located just minutes from the town of La Pintada, and at the foot of La India Dormida; a hill that looks like the silhouette of a sleeping Indian girl.

Abundance of Activities

While the focus is on nature-related activities, there is plenty to do around the Panamanian city of El Valle. Aside from other activities such as hiking, climbing, bird watching and exploring, El Valle also has a number of open-air markets where artisans come to sell ceramics, wooden crafts, hats, paintings, hand-made hammocks, and other handiworks.

This Panama location is in close proximity to the Pacific coast and the tropical weather needed to enjoy all of the activities in, and around, the ocean. Less than one hour away is the town of Coronado, with its Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course and its new equestrian club. In between the two cities are numerous other towns that offer beautiful beaches and unique shopping experience. This proximity increases the investment property values in El Valle and creates an interesting picture of Panamanian small-town living.
