Every year on October 21st, the city of Portobello holds a grand celebration of its history and of its valuable statue. Hundreds of people come from around the country come to this Caribbean real estate for a day of festivities that culminates when the statue is brought from the church on a platform and carried by 80 men through the streets of the city in a candlelight vigil until it resumes its location in the church.
